HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
Don as Johnny Ringo in the 3/5/59 episode of ZANE GREY THEATER entitled "The Loner," but also known as "Man Alone"

The original opening in this episode, with veteran Roy Barcroft as a man determined that his son establish a reputation as a gunfighter by killing Johnny Ringo, was left intact and used in the second pilot.

Scott Forbes played the evil saloon-owner in the first version, Thomas Mitchell the town drunk Johnny converts into a deputy, and Marilyn Erskine his daughter Laura.
